2021年3月20日，用户 KillerJack 将这首歌曲上传到WatZatSong上。之后，第一个回复该帖子的用户 Mylifeis4me1 要求 KillerJack 提供更长的歌曲样本。一天后，KillerJack 提供了完整的长达8分33秒的Vocaroo音频链结。2在那之后，KillerJack 有很长一段时间不再上线。
三年后，KillerJack 回到WatZatSong上并提供了关于这首歌的更多信息，其中该用户称该歌曲很可能来自一部2010年之前发布的YouTube视频，之后 KillerJack 又不再上线。3
在Fond my Mind Discord服务器里的I'll Give You Life频道上，Mylifeis4me、DefyJoe和其他Discord用户在发现 KillerJack 的电子邮箱地址指向巴西后，认为 KillerJack 很可能来自巴西。
2025年5月19日，Rain在另一个WatZatSong提问中发现了这首歌的完整版4。这个提问由用户Tixio在2023年12月22日发布。Tixio在这个提问中附上了完整版歌曲的YouTube链接，该视频由TeRBoozooka上传于2014年9月9日，标题“Scratched Final Boss (Source unknown)”5，说明早在此时，歌曲的出处已不明确。Tixio认为：
这可能还有更多背后的故事，因为我听说有人盗用了艺术家的作品，并将它作为自己的作品发在论坛上，据我所知，此人没有联系方式，我也不知道他的名字。我确定它存在于某处。
在“Scratched Final Boss (Source unknown)”的视频简介中，提及了一个已失效的YouTube视频，据推测后者由用户RSNxHolic发布于2014年7月。
当天晚些时候，Rain发现了一段上传于2009年7月25日的视频使用了这首歌6。该视频由用户ILoveVideoGames12发布，内容是弹幕射击游戏《东方Project》的游玩实况。视频描述称，这首歌最初由一个叫bjdestroyer的人发布，并认定这首歌是Fairuzonss的《Final Boss Comision》。
2010年至2020年，在互联网上有人提到一个叫Fairuzons的YouTuber发布过音乐。然而，在他的第一个账号被删除后，他开了一个名为Fairuzonss的小号。人们发现他从网上盗用别人的歌曲并声称是他的作品。
最终，人们在互联网档案馆找到了Fairuzons的Newgrounds账号的存档，该账号因发布涉未成年的不当内容被删除。这首歌于2008年初以“Final Boss FF8”（最终幻想8最终Boss）为题被发在Newgrounds音频区7。
发现
2025年6月13日，Discord用户Skyat向YouTube用户Game Music Freak询问这首歌的出处，后者称这首歌是由一名名为Kiesca的日本音乐人创作的。随后，Kiesca在X（原推特）被联系上，其称这首歌其实是他创作的两首不同的歌曲拼接而来，第一首是《Will Of The World》，第二首是《Metal Doll》，但他的电脑里没有这两首歌的音频。
因Kiesca无法提供音频，这个发现被认为尚有待验证。不久后，Discord用户backtodecember/fin找到了Kiesca的博客，尽管该博客在前一天晚上就被另一位用户Murphy找到。经过发掘，用户Basketry在该博客上找到了记载有《Metal Doll》歌词的博文8，最终确认这首歌确实是Kiesca的《Will Of The World》和《Metal Doll》的拼接歌曲。Kiesca又名KiXca，以ヤンデレP的名义作为V家P主活跃，发表过《哀撃貴鋼-Aigekikikou-》、《赤い両手-Metal Dolls II-》等作品。
